Maria White Mebane (pronounced Meh’ bin) was born 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in South Carolina. The daughter of two artists, she was always encouraged to create. Maria fell in love with clay early on realizing how exciting it is to work with the infinite possibilities of the medium. She went on to earn her degree in the art from Withrop University, studied sculpture in Italy, attended workshops at Haystack Mountain School, Penland School of Crafts and apprenticed with sculptor Michael Sherrill. Maria has been working with clay for over a decade and her award-winning ceramics are collected nationally. Maria lives and works in Hollywood, California and also collaborates with her husband to make films.
