Orfeo’s distinctive collection of wall art, vessels, jewelry, and sculpture, have captivating depth and playful color and shape. He creates unique pieces using hand-blown crystal and fused glass techniques. With contemporary titles such as “Bar Code”, “Jimi’s Brains, “Cell Divider” it’s clear he also has a sense of humor. Born in San Francisco in1972, Orfeo is the son of acclaimed Italian glass artist Narcissus Quagliata. Prior to college, Orfeo apprenticed under Catalonian glass artist José Fernandez Castrillo where he learned cold-working techniques that have become a cornerstone in his designs. He later returned to San Francisco to study industrial and furniture design at California College of the Arts (CCA) earning a BFA with high distinction in 1999. At CCA, Orfeo studied with prominent furniture designer and architect, Chris Deam, He served as Deam’s design assistant for three years, which included work on projects for Airstream and Herman-Miller.
